Hershey, Pa. – Rain severly impeded the second day of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Golf Regional at the Hershey Country Club. As players from 12 different teams remained on the course at the conclusion of play Tuesday, Wilmington's Paul Tighe held the individual lead.
The leader in the clubhouse among teams that have concluded 36 holes of play is Davis & Elkins, which has a 631 aggregate score through two days. Day one leaders Wilmington (Del.) and Indiana (Pa.) both have players remaining on the course in holes 12-15 and the Wildcats lead the Crimson Hawks by one stroke.
Working through a three-hour suspension of play due to rain, the golfers took to the course and concluded play at roughly 7 p.m. due to darkness. Tighe leads the Regional by four strokes over Joshua Mau of Massachusetts-Lowell. Tighe is through 12 holes with a +1 and Mau has made it through nine holes at a four-over-par pace.
Jacob Barge took advantage of the more favorable morning weather conditions to come into the clubhouse with a second round three-over-par 74. Thomas Linehan of St. Thomas Aquinas, who was tied for the lead at one-over after day one dropped into a tie for third through 12 holes. His round is currently suspended at +6.
After rain drizzled lightly and dampened the morning tee-offs, Mother Nature struck harder in the afternoon, forcing a three-hour stoppage from 1:26 p.m. to 4:26 p.m. Play will pick up at the crack of dawn with round two resuming at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
